Ode to Waltham

There’s a lot you don’t know about Waltham. And you know why that is? Because the winners always write history. That’s a little trinket from my A.P. History class teacher.

Anyway. Waltham: Such fertile ground for new beginnings. Entrepreneurship. Technology. Ingenuity.

It was the BIRTHPLACE of the American Industrial Revolution. No. It wasn’t Lowell. Lowell was second and it happened after Francis decided to move on up to bigger and better water power.

So then we were the Watch City, and then we fast forward sixty years where I am standing at CVS waiting for someone to come to the register so I don’t have to use a MACHINE because  A) that’s way too complicated B) you’re welcome human labor force, I’m keeping you employed and C) I just don’t like it. And they always have those counters filled with stuff you don’t need right at the very front for the very purpose of instilling feigned necessity.

This time it worked on me because it was… a Waltham watch! $14.95!

I needed it.

It says it’s made in China… right underneath “Genuine Leather” on the inside of the wristband. So… turns out its not a Waltham watch or leather… Oh well. Pretty huh?
