Mary Katrantzou Spring/Summer 2011

My new job has done much to open me up to the wonderland that is interior design. My new job… that I am so proud of that has finally turned me into both a proper member of the labor market and a proper Big Girl. But that’s all besides the point. I just want to make sure that’s known by the public and also, by extension, the universe.

Anyway, I don’t normally think about what rich people do when they redecorate. These type of fleeting thoughts were not part of my day to day thought collection before five days ago. They are now, and the more I see, the more I come to understand that furniture of this caliber isn’t really furniture at all. It is, in the sense that you can sleep, sit and eat off it. But you see, it goes so much further than that. It involves seasonal collections, inspiration, concept, geometric and mathematical precision! Style! Flair! Poise! It’s ephemeral. What else is…?

Why yes, fashion! How lovely would it be to marry the two? Mary Mary has done just that. At first I thought, “This is silly, they look stupid”, and you may think so too! But I’ll tell you what: she does know how to make a woman light up a room and turn a dress into a lampshade in ONE, TWO, THREE:
