Gemstones, Cosmic Gifts

I’ve been getting into gemstones.

I went to the Peabody museum in Harvard Square with some friends and was completely enchanted with the shapes and colors of their geodes. And various gemstone collections.

They looked like miniature art installations. They’re beautiful! It’s a shame not to collect them and adorn our bodies in them as much as we can. I should say we would be doing ourselves a disservice if we didn’t. My friend Jillian had been explaining something about rocks and gems emitting frequencies that affected our energetic disposition, though she would be able to communicate this idea better than I can.

All i know is that it intuitively makes sense to me and the idea just feels right. I’ve resolved to start a gemstone collection through jewelry. I bought myself a green amethyst ring in a silver setting. For clarity and keen decision making. Amazonite earrings, to inspire vitality and strength of character and jade studs for luck and harmony. Though I may not yet be ready to reap the benefits of jade.

What I really wanted was onyx. Onyx. It’s various attributes:

1. Valuable in difficult or confusing times of our lives.
2. Absorbs and flattens emotional intensity. Helps to smooth out the “Roller Coaster Ride” of emotions.
3. Protection: A good stone for Entrepreneurs and Inventors, to repel negative energy surrounding other peoples opinions or ideas.
4. Detachment: The ancient Egyptians believe that it could cool the ardors of love and actually cause arguments between lovers to the point of separation! Use Onyx for self-protection or to keep away or end unhealthy or bothersome emotional entanglements.
5. Letting Go: Extremely helpful to people who are having trouble letting go or releasing the past or attachments and moving on after a relationship has ended, sometimes years past the event.
6. Change: Helps release old beliefs and patterns that no longer serve us.
7. Visions, and guidance through meditation and dreams.

I wanted onyx set in gold. The price of gold has risen, so eBay couldn’t even help me. I decided I would just relax and somehow I’d get my onyx.

This was weeks ago. Weeks went by. One day, when I was (yet again) doing things I didn’t want to do for other people, my cousin comes to see me and says:

“Hi, I was at work cleaning out the vacuum cleaner and I found this. Do you want it?”

It was an onyx ring. In a gold setting. It was beautiful, it was the kind of ring I would have spent money on if I saw it at a store. My cousin didn’t know about my “the universe will bring me onyx somehow” psychosis.

It just happened. With no rhyme or reason. It was, quite literally, just sent to me.

So tell me. I actually want feedback on this. Tell me how I’m supposed to be a skeptic when my wish was cosmically realized this way. HOW.

Look at it. It’s beautiful.
